Maxglan elementary school to be merged

The Maxglan 1 and 2 elementary school in the city of Salzburg are to be merged. According to the Department of Education, the reason for this is that a principal is retiring and no suitable candidate has applied. Criticism has come from the teachers' union. 

The two elementary school are next door to each other in the same building. As there have now been problems in filling a vacancy for a new head teacher, the two schools are being merged. The city and education directorate view this positively. 

Invitation to tender was stopped
The teachers' association criticizes the fact that the advertisement for the headmaster position at elementary school 2 has been canceled. Toni Polivka, chairman of the GÖD trade union for compulsory school teachers: "I have the impression that the political coloring of the application once again did not fit."

According to the teachers' representative, it is questionable whether it is legally permissible to simply cancel a procedure that has already been initiated without consulting the appointed commission. And Christine Haslauer from the Salzburg teachers' association SALVE fears that the new giant school will come up against administrative limits.
