Nine-year-old hit by a stone while hiking

During an outing with his family in Riezlern (Vorarlberg) on Sunday, a nine-year-old child suffered several fractures and a laceration. 

A German family had set off on a hike in Riezlern in Vorarlberg on Sunday. The tour led from the Kanzelwand mountain station to the Kanzelwand summit. Around midday, the boy and his siblings were climbing a few meters off the hiking trail in rocky terrain. 

A stone came loose
A stone with a diameter of 20 centimetres suddenly came loose and hit the boy on the head. The child then fell onto the hiking trail below. Several broken bones and a laceration to the head were the result. The boy had to be flown by emergency helicopter to the accident hospital in Kempten.
