Speeding driver chased by police on highway

A 40-year-old Czech driver was measured by the police as speeding at 84 km/h on the Westautobahn. The traffic police chased the car and were able to stop him. The driver who was caught did not look for excuses and immediately admitted his speeding.

Due to the obviously high speed, a plainclothes patrol of the Upper Austrian traffic department was alerted to a car with Czech license plates on the A1 (Westautobahn) in the municipal area of Pucking at around 1 pm on Friday.

The police officers immediately recorded the car's pursuit and were able to measure a speed of 184 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The 40-year-old Czech was then stopped and subjected to a driver and vehicle check.

Fortunately, the driver who was caught appeared to be reasonable and admitted that he had been driving far too fast. The man's driver's license was temporarily confiscated on the spot and he was prohibited from continuing to drive. Corresponding charges will follow.
