Driver hits fence with a blood alcohol level of three

A 47-year-old driver simply drove straight ahead on a left-hand bend in Ried in der Riedmark on Monday, hitting a hunter's fence and ending up in hospital. A breathalyzer test on the man showed a "remarkable" three per mille.

The driver of the car - a 47-year-old Hungarian from Lower Austria - was driving on the L1412 towards Mauthausen at around 5 p.m. on Monday. In Ried in der Riedmark, however, his journey came to an abrupt end: on a left-hand bend, the 47-year-old drove straight on, hit a fence and came to a standstill on the fence enclosure.

Driver's license gone, charges filed
The ambulance took the driver to a hospital in Linz with injuries of indeterminate severity.

The man has lost his driver's license for the time being: a breathalyzer test showed him to have a blood alcohol level of just over three per mille. Charge!
