Bitch confronted brazen thief

He was just looking for a hotel, explained an unknown man after being barked at by the dog of an 82-year-old woman on her property in Wilhering (Upper Austria). The pensioner later found out: She was missing two gold chains and several drawers had been opened.

An 82-year-old woman only left her house in Wilhering for a short time on Monday afternoon, leaving the front door open. A brazen thief apparently took advantage of this. When the resident returned, her dog barked at an unknown man who was on the property.

The man explained that he was looking for a hotel - and then made off. According to the police, the 82-year-old then discovered that two gold chains were missing and several drawers had been opened.

Manhunt without success
An immediate manhunt for the still unknown perpetrator was initially unsuccessful.

The theft was discovered by the victim's 54-year-old neighbor, who called the police at around 12.30 pm.
