Despite catching up! Oilers suffer bitter defeat

The Edmonton Oilers have suffered a bitter setback in the North American professional ice hockey league NHL. 

In the Western Conference final against the Vancouver Canucks, the team lost 3:4 at home and now trails 1-2 in the "best of seven" series. The Florida Panthers in the East are just one win away from reaching the final against the Boston Bruins after a 3-2 away win. They lead the series 3-1.

The Oilers opened up a 1:3 deficit in the first period. Although the hosts managed to close the gap to 3-4, a storming run in the final period did nothing to change the defeat. Game four will be played again on Wednesday (CEST) in Edmonton.

Things are looking better for last year's finalists Florida. The Panthers didn't let a 2-0 deficit in Boston rattle them and cut the deficit to 3-1. With a home win on Wednesday night (CEST), Florida can make it through to the next round.
