Provincial governor Kaiser not averse to “asylum code”

The proposal from Vorarlberg to make it compulsory for refugees to take part in a German course and do community service has also made Carinthia's governor Peter Kaiser sit up and take notice. While the SPÖ politician is somewhat pleased with the plans, the Freedom Party sees them as an election stunt.

Vorarlberg's governor Markus Wallner (ÖVP) was the first head of the province to take the plunge and introduce a "codex" agreement for asylum seekers from June 1st(we reported). Refugees will have to attend a compulsory German and values course. Asylum seekers will also be required to do community service.
