Meeting on Sunday
The back! Javelin thrower Hudson cancels for Graz
Javelin thrower Victoria Hudson has to cancel her participation in the Austrian Top Meeting in athletics this Sunday in Graz due to back pain. According to the report, discomfort in her lumbar spine will prevent her from taking part in the Horst Mandl Memorial.
The 27-year-old athlete, who qualified for the Olympic Games, was last forced to withdraw from the Diamond League meeting in Shanghai at the end of April due to chronic inflammation of the nasal mucous membranes.
"It was a difficult decision, but a start in Graz would have been too risky in view of the European Championships in Rome in June and the Olympic Games in Paris in August," explained her coach Gregor Högler. The goal is now to compete next Friday at the Liese Prokop Memorial in St. Pölten.
Fuchs chases Olympic ticket
Markus Fuchs, on the other hand, wants to start his hunt for an Olympic ticket on Sunday in Graz. "The Austrian triple is perfect for this," said the sprinter, referring to the events in Graz, St. Pölten and on May 22nd in Eisenstadt. "Running under ten seconds really seems possible this year."
His ÖLV record has stood at 10.08 seconds since last year. Since then, Fuchs wants to have improved once again in all areas of sprinting under coach Patrick Salle. A time under 10.00 will earn him a direct ticket to Paris.
