Arrested man shot at police officers in Paris

A man arrested at a police station in Paris got hold of a service weapon and used it to shoot two police officers in Paris. The officers were critically injured. 

The man had been arrested because he was suspected of attacking a woman in a residential building. At the police station on Thursday evening, he was able to wrest the pistol from one of the officers and opened fire. "We have two police officers who are seriously injured," said Paris police chief Laurent Nunez on Friday. The officers who were shot were one male and one female victim.

Attacker and shot police officers in hospital
The suspect was also seriously injured - police officers fired back shortly after his attack. No details of the man's identity have been released. The attacker and the injured officers were taken to hospital. 

The Olympic Games will take place in Paris in a few weeks' time. As a result, France is on high security alert, as reported by the Reuters news agency.
