Then came a phone call
Söder: “Rangnick had already agreed to Bayern”
In a Sky talk show, Bavaria's Minister President Markus Söder gave an insight into FC Bayern's negotiations with Ralf Rangnick. Actually, everything was already clear with the ÖFB coach, the politician revealed. The Bayern fan regrets the separation from Thomas Tuchel.
"Rangnick had agreed after I informed him," explains Söder. But then everything suddenly changed: "Then came a memorable phone call. He suddenly came up with some reasons that made everyone wonder. There were things that didn't fit together." The Prime Minister did not want to reveal any details.
The search for a coach at the record champions is notoriously difficult at the moment. "Bayern needs a coach with authority and psychology. One who has the backing of the board," explained the passionate Bayern fan with good contacts to those in charge.
Söder as a Tuchel fan
The 57-year-old also expressed his disappointment that the collaboration with Tuchel was being ended prematurely. The current coach had experienced turbulent times right from the start and had therefore not been able to fully develop.
In general, there have been several unfortunate decisions at the record champions over the past two years. "FC Bayern is like my party. Always great drama," concluded Söder.
