15,270 euro check
30 fighters boxed for the Tyrolean women’s shelters
Last Saturday, 30 amateur boxers let their fists fly in the sold-out Innsbruck Music Hall - but for a good cause. Together they raised more than 15,000 euros for the Tyrolean women's shelters. A sequel is planned.
"The charity boxing was a very successful event that focused on the fight against violence against women throughout the evening," says Gabi Plattner, head of the Tyrolean women's shelters, delighted with the success of the event. And rightly so, because in just one evening, she was delighted to receive a cheque for 15,270 euros for her organization.
30 boxers took up the challenge and competed against each other one-on-one. The participants had two months to prepare professionally. The charity boxing event was organized by the non-profit association HUZI-Help. Chairman David Ziegler was delighted with the feedback from the participants and the audience. He also gave an outlook: "In 2025, it should be back to business as usual."
The aim of the event was to set an example against violence against women. This often occurs in relationships. "At first glance, it seems unusual to do this as part of a boxing event. But unlike partner violence, a boxing match is about fair conditions and a level playing field," explains Plattner.
