According to Ukrainian reports, Russia has once again attacked the power supply in Ukraine in night-time airstrikes. Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko spoke on Wednesday of a "further massive attack" on the energy industry.

Power generation and transmission plants in the regions of Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Vinnytsia were targeted. With the exception of Zaporizhia, all other regions are far from the front line in the east and south-east of Ukraine. According to the authorities, several plants were damaged.

The country's largest private electricity supplier, DTEK, announced that three thermal power plants had been severely damaged. The electricity grid operator Ukrenergo reported damage to a plant in central Ukraine.

Capital targeted again
The capital Kiev was also attacked again by Russia. According to the military administration, all missiles were shot down by air defenses. There were initially no reports of casualties in the nationwide attacks.
