Galerie Ropac shows the faces of war

The portraits magically attracted the guests who came to the Ropac Gallery on Mirabellplatz on Tuesday evening. The numerous colorful faces are captured on paper or newspapers from 1973 - the time of the Yom Kippur War. 

The Israeli artist Amos Gitai experienced the war at first hand. As a young man, he was a member of an air rescue team. Gitai almost lost his life back then.

Because on his very birthday, the rescue plane was hit by a rocket. Gitai survived and from then on devoted himself to art. The Ropac Gallery is showing his works until May 11.
