RTR warns of fraudulent letters in the name of the authority

The Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (RTR) warns against letters fraudulently requesting payment for an alleged service fee. Do not fall for it!

The mailings bear the RTR logo, RTR contact details and a QR code. The latter leads to a fake website and, after a further click, to a form in which you are asked to enter your account details to debit the service fee.

RTR states that it does not charge any fees and does not send any requests for payment. The letters sent are all forgeries. Steps have already been taken to have the websites that can be accessed via the QR codes contained in the letters taken offline.
