Believed to be attacker
Drunk man punches jogger in the face
Because a 40-year-old man mistook a jogger (30) in Vienna's 15th district for an attacker on Sunday evening when he "approached" his 9-year-old daughter, he knocked him to the ground.
At around 6 pm, a 40-year-old man was walking with his nine-year-old daughter in Sechshauser Straße. As the man was drunk, he massively misjudged a situation.
An approaching jogger, who had no ill intentions, was brought to the ground by the 40-year-old with a punch. He mistook the jogger for an attacker who was "approaching" his daughter.
Jogger injured in the face
The injured jogger was treated by the emergency services in Vienna and then taken to hospital. He reported that the 40-year-old had attacked him without warning as he was walking past with his daughter.
The police arrested the 40-year-old for the time being. He confessed to the crime during questioning. He explained that his excessive alcohol consumption had led to an incorrect assessment of the situation. On the instructions of the Vienna public prosecutor's office, he was released after being charged.
