Speeding in the Zillertal
Driving through a 60 km/h zone at 137: license and car taken away
A speeding driver was caught by the police in the Tyrolean Zillertal on Saturday night. The 51-year-old local was caught doing 137 km/h instead of the permitted 60. He has lost both his license and his vehicle.
In the municipality of Aschau im Zillertal, a police patrol noticed a vehicle on its way out of the valley at around 4.25 am. As the car was traveling far too fast, the officers gave chase and discovered several traffic violations.
The most serious offense was probably committed in the area of a signposted 60 km/h limit. There he exceeded the speed limit by a whopping 76 km/h. The driver, a 51-year-old local man, was stopped in Strass im Zillertal with the assistance of another police patrol.
License and car confiscated
The driver's license was temporarily confiscated. His vehicle was also temporarily confiscated. He will be reported to the relevant authorities.
