Champion Golden Knights avoid play-off exit
The Vegas Golden Knights have averted a premature end to the season in the NHL play-offs. The defending champions won the sixth game of the first-round series against the Dallas Stars 2-0 on Friday (local time) and evened the score at 3-3 in the best-of-seven series. The team that wins the seventh game on Sunday (local time) will face the Colorado Avalanche.
Noah Hanifin gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead midway through the final period, and Mark Stone put the game out of reach with a goal into the empty net with 19 seconds remaining. Las Vegas goalie Adin Hill saved all 23 shots on goal, keeping his team scoreless for the first time since last November.
Canucks win
The Vancouver Canucks won the sixth duel with the Nashville Predators 1-0 away from home, decided the series 4-2 in their favor and will now face the Edmonton Oilers. Pius Suter scored the winning goal for Vancouver with 99 seconds left in the game, Canucks goalie Arturs Silovs did not allow any of the 28 shots on his goal.
