Catholic priest AI causes confusion
The Catholic organization "Catholic Answers" has developed "Father Justin", an AI chatbot that is supposed to answer questions about the Catholic faith around the clock. However, the digital clergyman is raising eyebrows with his sometimes bizarre, sometimes incorrect answers.
"Father Justin" is based on a huge data set of texts and documents on the Catholic faith. However, the AI sometimes seems to overshoot the mark when answering user questions. For example, the chatbot explained that baptisms with the blue electrolyte drink Gatorade are perfectly fine, that it can hear confessions and even give absolution.
Those responsible are sobered by the slip-ups of their AI priest. They had tested the chatbot for over six months, but the users asked questions that they simply hadn't expected.
