24-hour caregiver allegedly stole from woman

A 24-hour caregiver allegedly stole from a woman she was looking after in the district of Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria). Gold ducats, jewelry and two savings books with a total value of more than 80,000 euros are said to have been stolen from the 82-year-old woman.

A 39-year-old care worker is suspected of stealing gold ducats, jewelry and two savings books from the person in her care. Total value: over 80,000 euros. The accused Romanian citizen was provisionally arrested by officers from the Sollenau police station and taken to the local prison by order of the public prosecutor's office in Wiener Neustadt.

During questioning, the accused exercised her right to refuse to give evidence. The whereabouts of the stolen goods are unknown for the time being, writes the Lower Austria Provincial Police Directorate in a press release.
