11 year break
Randy Travis releases song after stroke
American country star Randy Travis (64, "For Ever and Ever, Amen") is back with a new song after a long break due to illness.
It's been "a while" since his last recording, the singer wrote on Instagram on Wednesday (local time). He plans to release the song "Where That Came From" on Friday (May 3). He turns 65 the following day.
"Magical moment"
A special team made this "magical moment" in his career possible, Travis continued, without naming names. The Grammy winner was initially hospitalized in 2013 due to a heart condition.
Severe stroke
Following a severe stroke, the country star then had to undergo emergency surgery. This was followed by lengthy rehabilitation treatment.
He was rarely seen in public. He married his then fiancée, Mary Davis, in 2015.
His best-known songs include "For Ever and Ever, Amen" and "Diggin' Up Bones". Travis has won several Grammy Awards and trophies from the Academy of Country Music.
