Like the amen in prayer
Sturm vs. Rapid: Pyro madness greets you daily!
While the players of SK Rapid and Sturm Graz gave their all on the pitch, the fans of the two ÖFB Cup finalists fought their own duel in the stands. And like the Amen in prayer, a short interruption - triggered by pyro flares from the Rapid fans - was not to be missed.
The break in soccer matches normally lasts 15 minutes - on Wednesday, the professionals had a few more minutes to catch their breath. The return from the dressing room marked the start of a pyro show for the Rapid supporters, which delayed kick-off for several minutes.
This is by no means the first time that the two fan camps have duelled in the form of Bengalos. Last year, the Wörthersee Stadium in Klagenfurt was engulfed in smoke from the fireworks.
Fines for Sturm and Rapid
In October, both Vienna and Graz were also asked to pay a fine after the match on September 16 had to be interrupted for around twelve minutes due to the misuse of pyrotechnics.
