Seven-year-old boy was run over by a tractor

Horrible! A horrific accident took place at an event in Pucking (Upper Austria) on Wednesday. A seven-year-old boy fell for unknown reasons and was run over by the rear tire of a tractor in the area of his forearm. The seriously injured child was airlifted to hospital.

The Pucking fishing club had invited guests to a festival with "fishing" at the local bathing lake on May 1st. The guests were spoiled with fish, sausages, fish treats, coffee and cake. As a special attraction, there were also tours with a vintage tractor.

For the children present, this was a real treat. They accompanied the tours, running alongside and behind the tractor and trailer. 

Unsuccessful emergency braking
When the tractor driver (59) started another round at around 12.15 p.m., a seven-year-old Bosnian who was running along suddenly fell so badly that the driver could no longer avoid him. Although he initiated emergency braking, he was no longer able to prevent the accident.

The rear tire of his Steyr 15 tractor ran over the boy's left forearm. The child screamed in pain. An emergency paramedic who happened to be present gave him first aid and made an emergency call. 

The seriously injured seven-year-old was flown to Kepler University Hospital by the Christophorus 10 rescue helicopter and underwent emergency surgery. He is out of danger.

A breathalyzer test on the tractor driver showed 0.0 per mille. The police are investigating for negligent bodily injury.
