Cyclist hit by car – serious fall

Hit-and-run accident in the Tyrolean lowlands: A 68-year-old cyclist was hit by a car in Niederndorf (Kufstein district) on Monday afternoon and crashed as a result. The man suffered serious injuries. The driver of the car simply drove on.

The serious accident happened shortly before 5 pm. The 68-year-old local man was riding his bicycle on the Erler Landesstraße coming from Erl in the direction of Niederndorf when he was overtaken by a car, presumably a black one.

"During the overtaking maneuver, the cyclist's left arm was grazed by the car, causing him to fall and come to rest on the road with serious injuries," the police said. 

The driver of the car continued his journey without stopping or administering first aid. There is no trace of him so far.

Police are looking for possible witnesses
The seriously injured man was first treated by passers-by and then taken to Kufstein Hospital by the emergency services.
