35,000 euros per year
Financial “treat” for the search dog squadron
The "sniffers" are delighted: the state of Lower Austria has extended its funding contract with the rescue dogs. The association is also receiving special support for a new command vehicle amounting to 135,000 euros!
Heroes on four paws and their two-legged colleagues are now receiving financial help from the state. As part of the "Lower Austrian safety family", the Lower Austrian Rescue Dogs Association has been approved for a new funding contract. This was announced by the provincial governor.
800 missing persons tracked down
"Until 2026, 35,000 euros will flow into ongoing operations every year," said Johanna Mikl-Leitner. Since the squadron was founded in 2004, the volunteer snoopers have been involved in more than 800 missing persons cases. "We are available around the clock," emphasizes chairwoman - and "Krone" heartthrob - Karin Kuhn.
On Tuesday, the state government also decided to provide special funding for the purchase of a new, all-terrain command vehicle - which houses a radio station as well as computer workstations and the like. The old bus no longer had a license plate.
