Pool filter explodes: Tyrolean (61) injured!

A terrible incident on Sunday afternoon in Grinzens in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land: when a 61-year-old man tried to fill his private pool with water, the filter suddenly exploded. The man suffered such serious injuries that he had to be flown to hospital by helicopter.

The devastating incident occurred shortly after 1.30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. According to the police, the water filter suddenly exploded while the private pool was being filled. It is still completely unclear why.

Hit by the lid and injured
"The 61-year-old local man was hit in the face, head and hands by the lid of the water filter," the investigators continued.

To hospital by helicopter
The injured man was first treated on site and then flown to Innsbruck University Hospital by emergency helicopter.
