Worker trapped between truck and construction machine

A terrible accident on Monday morning in the Tyrolean lowlands: a 45-year-old worker was trapped between a truck and an asphalt cutting machine in Eben am Achensee. The man suffered serious injuries and had to be flown to Innsbruck Hospital by emergency helicopter.

The serious accident occurred at around 9.15 am. While a 29-year-old local man was reversing a truck in the area of a construction site, the 45-year-old man was carrying out work with an asphalt cutter.

"The Austrian was hit by the truck driving in reverse and trapped between it and the machine," a police spokesperson said in response to an inquiry from Krone.

The worker suffered serious injuries to his right leg.

The 45-year-old was able to free himself. Another worker immediately provided first aid and set the rescue chain in motion.

To the hospital by helicopter
"The worker suffered serious injuries to his right leg," the spokesperson continued. After receiving first aid at the scene of the accident, the man was flown to the hospital in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter. In addition to the police, ambulance and helicopter crew, the Eben am Achensee volunteer fire department was also deployed.
