Minnesota first team through thanks to Edwards
The Minnesota Timberwolves have become the first team to advance to the quarter-finals of the North American basketball league NBA. With their 122:116 victory over the Phoenix Suns, they secured a 4:0 win in the play-off series, with Anthony Edwards scoring 40 points.
Their next opponent will be the winner of the clash between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers, with the Nuggets leading the series 3:1.
Clippers avoid memorable defeat
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers took a 3:1 lead in the series with a 126:113 triumph over the Milwaukee Bucks. The LA Clippers drew level at 2:2 thanks to a 116:111 win over the Dallas Mavericks. Paul George and James Harden each scored 33 points for the Clippers, preventing a memorable defeat. Thanks in part to 40 points from "Mavs" guard Kyrie Irving, the Californians let a 31-point lead slip from their grasp at one stage, but were then able to decide the game in their favor.
