A fire at a landfill site in the district of Völkermarkt kept two fire departments on their toes on Sunday. 

The fire broke out at around 6.50 am on Sunday in the warehouse of a waste disposal company's landfill site in Tainach. The Tainach and Völkermarkt volunteer fire departments were immediately deployed with nine vehicles and 30 men.

Fortunately, the fire was quickly brought under control and finally extinguished. No one was injured.

Self-ignition is suspected
"The cause of the fire is assumed to be spontaneous combustion. The material damage caused is not yet known, but must first be determined by an expert on site," said the police.
