End of traffic jam overlooked

Rear-end collision in Hohenems caused four injuries

In the early hours of Saturday evening, there was a serious crash on Lustenauer Straße in the direction of Hohenems: Four vehicles crashed into each other in the course of a rear-end collision, and there were also injuries.

Shortly after 6 p.m., a small traffic jam had formed on Lustenauer Straße. It was in a very confusing place, exactly where the bridge crosses the Rhine Valley highway. A 37-year-old driver was able to bring his car to a halt in time behind a group of motorcyclists, and the 51-year-old man behind him was also just able to brake successfully.

However, an 85-year-old car driver was less quick to react, noticing the traffic jam too late and crashing his vehicle into the rear of the car in front of him - his car was in turn pushed into the 37-year-old's car. To complete the mess, a 20-year-old female driver also hit the end of the traffic jam with her car.

A total of four people were injured in the pile-up - two of them only very slightly. The four vehicles involved in the accident also suffered considerable damage, two of which were no longer roadworthy and therefore had to be towed away. The L203 was briefly closed in both directions during the rescue and recovery operations.
