Rangers with one foot in the conference semi-finals
The New York Rangers are on the verge of advancing to the semifinals in the Eastern Conference of the North American Ice Hockey League NHL. After a 3:1 win at the Washington Capitals on Friday, the New York Rangers lead the "best of seven" series 3:0. The Vancouver Canucks, Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers also recorded victories.
There were two resounding victories in the three Western Conference encounters: the Colorado Avalanche lived up to their name in their home game against the Winnipeg Jets. With five goals in the third period, the hosts made their fans cheer and celebrated a 6:2 victory. They now lead the series 2:1, just like the Oilers.
Draisaitl outstanding
Led by German star Leon Draisaitl, who contributed two goals and an assist, the Canadiens won 6-1 against the Kings in Los Angeles, making up for their loss in the second home game of the series.
The Canucks also celebrated a 2:1 away win at the Nashville Predators and also lead 2:1.
