Managing Director Hazod leaves the SOV

Sebastian Hazod will become Director of the Musikkollegium Winterthur from January 1, 2025. The vacant position at the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra is to be advertised as soon as possible.

The Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra (SOV) needs a new Managing Director. Sebastian Hazod is leaving the Vorarlberg orchestra after six years and will become the new director of the Musikkollegium Winterthur on January 1, 2025. This was announced by the Vorarlberg orchestra on Thursday. According to Manfred Schnetzer, President of the SOV, the advertisement for the successor will be published "as soon as possible", but the orchestra still wants to take time for a professional selection process.

Hazod, who was born in Upper Austria in 1986, has been Managing Director of the SOV since 2018 and will now succeed Dominik Deuber in Switzerland. "I am leaving the SOV with a great deal of melancholy," Hazod said in the press release about his departure on November 1, 2024, adding that he can look back on successful concerts and "many wonderful encounters with great people". The program for the upcoming 2024/25 season was designed together with Chief Conductor Leo McFall, and planning for 2025/26 is also well advanced.

"With Sebastian Hazod, we are losing a very successful managing director," said SOV President Schnetzer, referring to the capacity utilization and positive feedback from audiences and critics. We regret his departure, but also understand "that he could not turn down the offer from the renowned Musikkollegium Winterthur".
