In the spring, he was always a reliable back-up for second division club Admira - and yet goalkeeper Christoph Haas was demoted to "benchwarmer". Englishman Tobi Oluwayemi has been standing between the posts for the last four games. In St. Pölten, however, the goalkeeping shuffle is taking on new dimensions...

In the 3:1 win against Amstetten, Admira's Christoph Haas made the opposing attackers desperate with some brilliant saves. As "thanks" for this, the substitutes' bench beckoned, with Tobi Oluwayemi standing between the posts for the last four second division games. Coach Thomas Pratl wants to observe the Celtic loanee over a longer period of time. "I had to sleep on it for a few nights after this decision," said Haas. "If there are no sporting reasons for this swap, then of course it annoys me."

Logically, the Viennese played a strong spring. "I haven't done anything wrong. It's just part of the business." Apparently! In the public image, it almost seems as if Oluwayemi has to play so that Admira can get more talent from the Scottish cooperation club in the summer. "Everyone knows that Celtic is an important partner of the club. The basis for negotiations will probably not deteriorate as a result. But I can put myself in the shoes of those responsible," he says, subordinating himself to the big picture. "For me, of course, it's not so nice." The question of his future therefore remains unanswered.

"I'll keep pushing"
The 31-year-old's contract expires in the summer. "I feel comfortable here in principle, I can imagine staying in Südstadt." But not at any price. Haas sees himself as a regular keeper. "I'm going to keep pushing, prove to the coaches that I'm the better choice." While the Panthers' form curve is pointing steeply upwards, they have been unbeaten for six rounds. "That makes me extremely happy. I try to get involved, to push the boys from the bench."

By the way: St. Pölten also rotated their goalkeeper in the 3-1 defeat to GAK - for the third time this season! Pirmin Strasser made his SKN debut after three years, slipping into the first eleven for Felix Gschossmann. Thurner's replacement had conceded ten (!) goals in the previous two games. "But that wasn't the reason. It was clearly communicated that both would get their chance," said coach Semlic.
