Many dead after car racing disaster

At least seven people, including an eight-year-old child, have died in an accident during a car race in Sri Lanka! 

According to police reports, 21 other people were injured when a racing car veered off course at a motorsport event on Sunday and crashed into a group of spectators.

According to police, one of the drivers crashed into the crowd on an unprotected section of the army-run racetrack around 180 kilometers east of Colombo.

Shortly before the accident, army chief Vikum Liyanage had declared entry to the event, which was being held for the first time in five years, to be free of charge.

According to him, around 100,000 spectators attended the major event on the Fox Hill racetrack.
