Even at the age of 90, Swiss sociologist and globalization critic Jean Ziegler is still fighting against hunger in the world. Conny Bischofberger conducted this interview with the former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food 16 years ago - and it remains shockingly topical.

It was the time of the financial crisis. The problems of the global real estate market had reached the heart of capitalism, Wall Street in New York and the European financial centers of London and Frankfurt. Banks had to be bailed out, and the banking crisis was followed by the sovereign debt crisis. Food prices rose, and so did world hunger. In 2008, on his 74th birthday, I spoke to the great globalization critic and sociologist Jean Ziegler.
