Seven games are still to be played in League Two. GAK lead the table with a commanding eight-point advantage. On Sunday (matinee at 10.30), the cushion could grow again with a win against St. Pölten. The fans hope that this will be the last early shift in the second division. Goalscorer Daniel Maderner celebrates a special anniversary against the "Wolves".

The GAK welcome St. Pölten on Sunday morning for the Second Division clash. In which Daniel Maderner celebrates an anniversary: his 100th game in the league. "At best, there are only six more to go," winks the striker. "But we still have some hard work ahead of us."

Seven games still separate GAK from a return to the Bundesliga. The next important step is to be taken against the "Wolves". "They'll give it everything they've got and are where they are in the table for a reason. If we bring our game to the pitch, then we'll take the three points."

That's never happened before this season
That hasn't always been the case recently. Two games in a row without a win (1:1 against DSV Leoben and 0:2 at Liefering) is unprecedented this season. "A luxury problem," laughs the 28-year-old. "Joking aside. The last few games have been up and down and not what we played in the first half of the season. But the pressure is still on the other teams. We don't need to let them drive us crazy."

Maderner spent part of his youth at St. Pölten. But that doesn't make the game special for him. "The academy wasn't part of the club back then either. It's special because we have a home game again. Our fans expect something from us. The last few games in the Merkur Arena have not been what we aspire to." The self-confidence is certainly there. "We're playing with a broad chest, we can have that. We're not top of the league for nothing. We'll show who the GAK is again!"
