Straka remains on course for third PGA title
Golf pro Sepp Straka topped his strong opening performance at the PGA tournament in Hilton Head in South Carolina on Friday. The Viennese followed up his 66 from the previous day with a round of 65 on the par 71 course, putting him in a tie for the lead with Americans Tom Hoge, J.T. Poston and Collin Morikawa. A trio followed one shot behind in fifth place.
Straka had started badly from fourth place with a double bogey, but then he really took off. The Ryder Cup winner from the previous year made eight birdies over the next 17 holes and played par on the remaining holes.
Third PGA title possible
This put Straka in a good position to play for his third PGA title at the weekend. So far, the Tokyo 2021 Olympic runner-up has won in February 2022 and July 2023.
