PAOK fails against Brugge with Murg and Schwab

In the quarter-finals of the Conference League, PAOK Saloniki lost 2-0 to Brugge with Thomas Murg and Stefan Schwab in the starting eleven and were eliminated with an aggregate score of 3-0.

The Belgians will face Fiorentina, who beat Viktoria Pilsen 2:0 after extra time, in the semi-finals. Aston Villa only booked their place in the last four in Lille in a penalty shoot-out.

During the shoot-out, Argentinian world champion goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, wearing Villa kit, was shown a second yellow card for a gesture towards the crowd. The red card did not follow, however, because yellow cards from a match are not carried over to the penalty shoot-out. Aston Villa will face Olympiakos Piraeus in the semi-finals. The Greek side also defeated Fenerbahce Istanbul on penalties.
