Europa League:
LIVE: Marseille fight their way into extra time
Olympique Marseille beat Benfica Lisbon 4:2 in a penalty shoot-out on Thursday after losing the first leg 2:1. The French side have now reached the semi-finals of the Europa League for the second time since 2018, where Liverpool's Atalanta Bergamo await.
Marseille went into the second leg at home against Benfica with a 2:1 deficit and the score had been 0:0 for a long time. But in minute 79, a header from Faris Moumbagna after an assist from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saved the French side for extra time. However, there was no goal.
Former Salzburg coach Roger Schmidt's side therefore had to go into a penalty shoot-out - where superstar Angel Di Maria and Antonio Silva, of all people, missed. Marseille will face Atalanta Bergamo in the semi-finals, while AS Roma will take on Bayer Leverkusen.
