First women's final
Automatically saved draft
The TI-Volley women's volleyball team head into the first final match of the best-of-five series against Linz-Steg with two titles under their belts. The women from Innsbruck are a force in front of their own crowd in particular and have already defeated their opponents from Upper Austria four times this season.
On Tuesday morning, manager Michael Falkner joined the coaching team and Rozalia Hnatyszyn's boyfriend in setting up the floor for the first final game in the USI Hall. "We gave it our best shot," grinned Falkner. So that everything is just right when the Innsbruck team faces long-term rivals Linz/Steg in the first game of the best-of-five series.
Four home wins
The two teams have already played each other six times this season, and the record speaks in favor of the Tyroleans: All four home games (Supercup, Cup semi-finals, European Cup and championship) have been won, while the two games in Linz were lost. "I don't count the golden set we lost in the European Cup," explained the manager.
Great self-confidence
With the four home wins against the defending champions from Upper Austria, the TI squad is full of confidence going into the first clash. "We're just looking forward to getting started. There's a positive tension, but we're not nervous," said Martyna Walter. However, the captain is expecting another close game: "We've met a lot, but the last duel was in December and it's been a while. They will have changed something, but we've now also prepared specifically for Linz."
AVL WOMEN'S FINAL
- TI-Volley - Linz-Steg Wednesday, April 17, 17.35
- Linz-Steg - TI-Volley Sunday, April 21, 16.05
- TI-Volley - Linz-Steg Tuesday, 23. 4., 17.35
- If necessary:
- Linz-Steg - TI-Volley Monday, 29. 4., 20.20
- TI-Volley - Linz-Steg Wednesday, 1. 5., 17.35
Linz-Steg definitely has more than one score to settle and will try everything. "We have to generate a lot of pressure with the service and control their attackers," says "Marty", who knows what she and her colleagues have to do.
