Innsbruck: Direttissima to the land of milk and honey

A commentary by Claus Meinert, editor-in-chief of the "Tiroler Krone", on the defeated municipal council and mayoral elections in Innsbruck, which ended bitterly for many a party.

"Again and again on Sundays, the memory comes ..." Cindy & Bert once sang. That was in 1973, and more than 50 years later, some politicians may also be thinking: I never want to be reminded of this Sunday, April 14, 2024, again. But the reality is different: This election day will go down in history. Some (old) parties in the Tyrolean provincial capital were "wiped out" by the electorate for their "achievements" over the past six years, and were downright politically executed.
