Christoph Krenn may have been allowed to leave Graz Hospital after just under four weeks, but his ordeal following his crash in the European Cup Super-G in Verbier (Sz) is not over yet. Despite the dislocation fracture in his left knee joint, the man from Göstling believes he will make a comeback to the ski circuit - it won't be his first.

A fibula fracture in 2015, an intervertebral disc operation, and even his neck caused him problems. Christoph fought his way back again and again. "It's really taken its toll on me over the last few years," sighs the police athlete, "whenever I was on a good path, I got hit."

This winter too, the 29-year-old speed specialist has shown that he deserves a place in the ÖSV team and with equipment supplier Augment: He finished a strong 15th in the World Cup Super-G in Kvitfjell and took two podium places each in the downhill and super-G in the European Cup. "And I also had the fastest intermediate time in Verbier," Christoph adds.

Before he got caught out: "I've watched the video a few times now. It was a normal inside skiing mistake." Which sent him into the net at 100 km/h.

At Graz University Hospital - where Max Franz and Matthias Walkner, among others, were also treated - the specialists fixed the tibial plateau with screws and a plate, and parts of the ligaments have already been reconstructed. "But it will take one or two more operations." But Krenn can live with that. Because he has a plan: "My goal is to come back and make such great turns in the snow as before!"
