Babler sees “impressive new start for SPÖ”
After the Innsbruck municipal and mayoral elections, Vice-Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) and SPÖ leader Andreas Babler have joined in as well-wishers at federal level. The latter described it as an "impressive new start for the SPÖ Innsbruck".
Kogler thanked the incumbent Green mayor Willi for his "incredible commitment, competence and passion".
"Directional decision"
The people of Innsbruck had "voted for climate protection and for cooperation at eye level", said Kogler.
For the mayoral run-off election in two weeks' time, Kogler called for a "directional decision".
Babler was delighted with the increase and one mandate gain for the SPÖ in the Tyrolean capital. The gains are all the more remarkable because 13 lists ran in Innsbruck, according to the SPÖ leader.
ÖVP General sees bourgeois alternatives as the reason for defeat
For ÖVP General Secretary Stocker, the fact that two middle-class lists ran is to blame for the poor result. He "knows and appreciates" the former ÖVP State Secretary Florian Tursky as an "extremely competent and committed politician", said Stocker.
Unfortunately, however, the large number of lists had led to a fragmentation of votes and thus prevented him from reaching the run-off.
