Austrian Black Hawk flying over New York
Austrian Armed Forces helicopters fly over New York City! This is neither fake nor an invasion of the USA by Austria. The army's Black Hawks had to undergo an update in America and took a detour.
The two Black Hawks flew from Alabama to Connecticut over ten US states. The flight took seven hours and three refueling stops had to be made, according to the commander of the four-man crew, Herbert Santner. The reason for the trip was to demonstrate the new cockpit.
The two S70 Black Hawk aircraft received a modernization of the avionics at Ace Aeronautics LLC in Guntersville, Alabama. As the manufacturer Sikorsky was interested in the modifications to the cockpit, the aircraft then made a short stopover in Stratford, Connecticut. From there, the "Falcons" flew on to the seaport in Norfolk, Virginia, where they will be shipped to Antwerp at the beginning of next week. The two aircraft are expected there at the beginning of May and will then fly back to their home in Langenlebarn.
