After trouble with electricity tariff to energy community

Dagmar Kreis had problems with the feed-in of her solar power. Now she has found an alternative.

In winter, Dagmar Kreis from Elsbethen was still very disappointed with her electricity bill. As reported by the "Krone" newspaper, the owner of a large photovoltaic system was surprised by the low income from feeding electricity into the grid, which did not even begin to cover her consumption. Kreis has now found a solution to her electricity woes. Since the beginning of March, she has been a member of the "Salzburg Süd" renewable energy community, which brings together electricity producers and consumers on a small scale.

Kreis feels much better off there than before with Salzburg AG. "I don't want to get rich with my electricity," she says during her visit to the "Krone". "But I can't see that these energy companies are making billions in profits at our expense." The energy community has been on the grid since the beginning of the year and covers the supply area of the Eichet substation.

This includes the southern parts of the city, parts of Wals-Siezenheim and the municipalities of Krispl, Gaißau and Elsbethen. This means that consumers and producers can join in this area. "We are currently mainly looking for consumers in the area," says chairman Erik Schnaitl. "Restaurants, hotels or businesses that also need electricity during the day would be ideal." The community currently offers a consumption tariff of 13.3 cents per kilowatt hour net and is therefore very competitive. Producers of solar power cannot yet feed anything into the grid via the energy community. However, Schnaitl hopes that this will be the case in a month or two.
