The next escalation in the US-Chinese technology and trade war: according to a media report, China wants to ban foreign-made processors from its telecommunications network.

The authorities instructed the largest domestic providers at the beginning of the year to phase out non-Chinese processors that are central to their networks by 2027, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. This step would affect US chip giants Intel and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), among others.

The shares of both companies fell slightly in pre-market trading. In view of the increasing tensions between the USA and China, Beijing is increasingly trying to replace Western technologies with its own alternatives.
