Underground cable damaged

No cell phone, no Internet: Massive network failure

During excavation work in Pfunds on Tuesday, an underground telecommunications cable was apparently severely damaged. The consequences are being felt by several communities in the "Obere Gricht". 

On Tuesday, a landline (A1) was severely damaged during excavation work in the municipality of Pfunds. This led to an A1 network outage in Pfunds and a total outage of the A1/Magenta network in Nauders and Spiss. This outage affected both the landline and mobile network.

Euro emergency call only possible to a limited extent
Due to a partial network overlap between the Italian and Swiss radio networks, the Euro emergency call "112" only works to a limited extent. If the emergency services cannot be reached by telephone, the local police stations or fire stations should be contacted in emergencies. These are staffed in the respective municipalities.

Power outage expected to continue
The public has been informed of the situation accordingly. The emergency services can be contacted by radio. Police forces have been increased in numbers in the affected areas. The power outage is expected to last until Wednesday lunchtime.
