In the middle of the season
“He’s out of his depth!” Driver change in F1?
Are we about to see a driver change in Formula 1? The current season is not going according to plan for Williams driver Logan Sargeant. Now he is also being criticized by former racing driver Ralf Schumacher.
"You have to be fair: he has definitely got closer to Albon. But he simply makes too many mistakes," said expert Ralf Schumacher on Sky. According to the German, Sargeant was "overwhelmed by the situation".
Sargeant's driving error in practice in Suzuka also shows this. The American crashed his Williams into the barriers.
Sargeant last had to take a break at the race in Melbourne. Following an accident involving his team-mate, he had to hand over his car to Albon. Albon's badly damaged chassis was taken out of service for the rest of the weekend after the practice crash in Australia. The financially troubled traditional racing team did not have a third chassis on site.
Schumacher: No change before the Miami race
Sargeant finished last (17th) at the Japanese Grand Prix. Does the 23-year-old now even have to fear for his cockpit? "I can't imagine that anything will change before Miami (editor's note: race on May 5)," said Schumacher. It will be interesting to see whether Sargeant can show his best side again at his home race at the latest.
