Max Verstappen:
“I don’t think that’s the smartest solution”
In two weeks' time, the Chinese Grand Prix will be the first sprint weekend of the year. And on a track that has not been raced on for four years due to coronavirus. Not exactly "the smartest solution" for world champion Max Verstappen.
After all, nobody knows what condition the track will be in after this long break. On sprint weekends, the time available to set up the car is particularly limited.
"I don't think it's good. When you haven't been on a track for a while, you never know what you're going to experience. It would probably have been better to have a normal race weekend there," said Verstappen.

On the other hand, it can also be seen as a great challenge for the drivers. "Maybe that's what they would like to see. But purely from a driving perspective and for the performance side of the sport, I don't think it's the smartest solution," emphasized Verstappen.
Perez: "Never driven a Red Bull there before"
His team-mate Sergio Pérez added: "I just hope that there are no problems with the track, with gullies or anything like that. That would throw us off our rhythm. But the sprint will probably be good for the show. But it will definitely be difficult during the preparation. For example, I've never driven a Red Bull there before."
Lewis Hamilton won the last race in Shanghai in 2019 in the Mercedes ahead of his team-mate Valtteri Bottas. Sebastian Vettel came third in the Ferrari. Since then, not only has a lot changed in the paddock, but the cars have also changed fundamentally.
