Mini moos, dwarf goats and white baroque donkeys
It's not just people who are out and about at Vila Vita in Pamhagen. Four-legged companions also live here and have a good time. The newest residents are small cattle.
Do you know Dexter cattle? They are the smallest European breed of cattle there is. The animals do not grow much taller than one meter and were almost extinct in the 1960s and 1970s.
Although they are no longer threatened with extinction today, they are still a rare breed.
Anyone who wants to see these cute "moos" now has the opportunity to do so at the Vila Vita in Pamhagen. Two Dexter cows have been living there for 14 days. Emma and Emilia are still a little shy, but are already a favorite with the guests.
Right next to the Dexter cattle are two white donkey ladies. Lilly and Florentina were born at the resort in 2011. White donkeys are one of the old domestic animal breeds, a herd of which lives in the Lake Neusiedl - Seewinkel National Park. Lilly and Florentina's father also came from there. There are only around 200 animals left in the world. Incidentally, the special thing about the white donkeys is their light blue eyes.
Also new to the Vila Vita petting zoo are two dwarf goats. Milli and Cilly's favorite pastime: feeding. And being stroked. "Our petting zoo is home to a number of animals that delight the children of our guests," says Managing Director Josef Gelbmann. He himself is also an animal lover and enjoys visiting Emma & Co. just as much as the holidaymakers.
