Austria has a new world champion! Michaela Kotaskova from Vienna was crowned WBF Welterweight World Champion against Erica Juana Gabriela Alvarez from Argentina at the 14th Bounce Fight Night at the Hotel InterContinental.

Both women started the world championship fight with a wait-and-see attitude. In round three, the fight picked up speed for the first time and the visors were raised. While Kotaskova showed technically fine boxing, her Argentinian opponent was only "convincing" with evasive maneuvers and swings. The bout thus rippled along until round seven, in which Kotaskova was hit hard for the first time.

Unimpressed, the Bounce figurehead continued to box, taking herself out in the eighth and ninth rounds. Only to be crowned WBF World Champion early in the tenth round! "It was awesome, perfect. That's exactly how I imagined it. We boxed long enough, I wanted the knockout." This makes the 32-year-old the first professional boxer from Ottakringer Boxclub Bounce to strap on a world champion belt.

Merza makes a comeback
In the previous fight, six-time Thai boxing world champion Fadi Merza made his comeback to the ring after ten (!) years. He scored a unanimous victory after six rounds against Kenan Catic from Bosnia, who is 20 years his junior.
